"He who regrets the past loses the present and risks the future"-Francisco de Quevado
In other words, let the past be the past. Significance? The reason why I am headed to Nicaragua is because of a situation that prevented me from my first choice: Brazil. Just a little background as I begin this journey throughout Central America: I was originally planning to study in Bahia, Brazil. In the summer of 2010, my physicians told me that due to health reasons, I could not travel to Brazil. One word: HEARTBREAK. I had set my heart on Brazil, but after all, you move on. I had a decision to make: either give up on studying off-campus and return to my studies at Denison University, or choose another place to study. As you can see from this blog, I chose to put aside my disappointment in not going to Brazil and began focusing on Nicaragua. Turns out that I fell in love with the country :-)
And here I sit, less than 24 hours from standing in the land of the poets and beginning a journey that will be life-changing. I made the critical decision to study off campus even though I couldn't go where I wanted. That's how the cookies crumble at times. With that being said, are you ready for this? I know that I am!!!!
Until I blog again,
